Care Guide
-
String of Hearts needs bright, indirect light to thrive, and it will even do okay with some direct sun in the mornings. Too much harsh or direct sun will burn the leaves, but a few hours in the morning when the light is less intense will do wonders for your String of Hearts!
-
String of Hearts have tubers in their roots that hold and store water, so let them completely dry out between waterings.
-
They like it very warm: 80 - 85°F is ideal, but String of Hearts do fine in typical household temps of 70°F+ . They have little to no tolerance for cold, so don’t leave them with temperatures lower than 65°F.
-
Since they store moisture so well, String of Hearts don’t need high humidity to thrive. They will be happy in low to medium humidity environments (35 - 60%), and most average household humidity levels will work well for them.
-
Drainage is essential for String of Hearts, and a well draining potting mix paired with a pot with plenty of drainage is a must. They have small, shallow root systems with tubers, and will do just fine in smaller, shallower pots.
-
String of Hearts are non-toxic for pets and people!
